The striking worker of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti in Ekiti State, has called for the immediate arrest of their Rector, Dr. Taiwo Akande for alleged budget padding.
The workers on Wednesday staged another protest to register their grievances. The protesting workers had been on strike for three weeks.
It will be recalled that the workers who had been on strike for three weeks, staged a protest few days back at the front of the administrative office.
According to the aggrieved workers, the rector overloaded the nominal roll of the staff with names of retirees and deceased leading to alleged embezzlement of N250 million by the management since 2014.
The union leaders, led by the chairmen of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, Mr. Tunji Owoeye and the Senior Staff Union of Polytechnics (SSANIP), Dr. Oluwole Ayeni while addressing the workers said they have written to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the ICPC , offices of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Minister of Education, Alhaji Adamu Adamu and nothing was done.
