The Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kolapo Olusola has frowned at the attitude of some students of the Anglican Comprehensive High School, Ado- Ekiti for molesting a female English teacher who was in the school for her legitimate duty as the teacher handling the English Language for the State Government Schools Intervention Programme for SS3 students.
Dr. Olusola expressed his annoyance on the untoward attitude of some of the flippant SS3 students of the school who were all out to disrupt the free flow of academic activities in the school, with an assurance that the present administration would not allow its teachers to be rubbished or molested by anybody.
While addressing the students, the Deputy Governor charged them to expose those that were involved in the shameful acts and directed the school management to ensure that all SS3 students that were not in class during the visit were brought to book.
According to him, the incident was the first of its kind since the commencement of the intervention program in 2015, stressing that such would not be allowed in any school in the state as those who were found guilty will be severely punished. The Deputy Governor also gave the directive that nobody should be allowed to play football in the school premises until the school closes for the day.
Meanwhile, the Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kolapo Olusola has observed the appalling condition of the male hostel of the Ekiti State Government College, Ado-Ekiti and called for urgent attention to make the building more conducive for the students.
Dr. Olusola who was taken round the hostel by the school Principal during his unscheduled visit to the school said that the hostel needs urgent rehabilitation considering the health implication on the students.
The Deputy Governor therefore advised the school management to convey its Parent and Teachers Association meeting in order to find a lasting solution as well as seeking the assistance of well meaning individuals, groups and organizations for the development of the school.
He also thanked the Old Student Association of the school for their effort in rehabilitating the female hostel and urged them to consider extending the gesture to the boys hostel also. Dr. Olusola promised to call the attention of the appropriate organ of the government to the situation for prompt action.
In other schools visited by the Deputy Governor charged the students to be more dedicated to their studies and promised to hold a refresher course for some Mathematics teachers to help them build their capacity in Further Mathematics.
