Ekiti Government has assured teachers that their welfare will continue to receive deserved top priority in the heart of the administration of Governor Ayodele Fayose, having done the state proud by working assiduously to restore the glory of education which has being the pride of Ekiti from time immemorial.
The Deputy Governor, Dr Kolapo Olusola gave the assurance during his interactive meetings with all teachers of English and Mathematics in the public secondary schools across the state.
Dr. Olusola who said that the efforts of the teachers as complemented with that of government yielded a positive result in the last 2016 National Examination Council (NECO) where Ekiti came first, charged the teachers to be more dedicated to enable the state sustain the
The Deputy Governor said that Excellence has no terminus and therefore charged both the teachers and students not to relent on their efforts but to keep their passion alive until the ultimate goal is achieved.
He disclosed that government is exploring ways to access more grants from international donor agencies to support educational development and teacher’s welfare, adding that the culture of academic excellence should not be allowed to slip off the hand of the state again.
The interactive meetings which came up in five centers of Ikole, Ikere, Ido, Aramoko and Ado- Ekiti were designed to appreciate the efforts and sacrifice of the teachers in the past and as well as to motivate them in preparing for the greater tasks of sustaining the achievement ahead.
According to the Deputy Governor, the state government’s focus now is to come first in both the NECO and WAEC conducted examinations with at least 80% pass in English and Mathematics as well as to sustain the feat as a state that prides itself as Fountain of Knowledge.
In her welcome address, The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education Science and Technology, Princess Adekunbi Obaisi, admonished the teachers in the core subject areas to ensure the sustenance of the feat recorded in NECO and improve on the performance of students in WAEC conducted examination in 2017 Most of the teachers that responded at the forum commended the leadership style of Dr. Ayodele Fayose and his passion for the teaching profession with a promised to rededicate themselves for selfless service.
They also used the opportunity to appeal to the Governor to look into issues affecting their promotion, harmonization, and other matters relating to their welfare.
