Ekiti State Government has finalised arrangement for an all inclusive Education Summit aimed at addressing decadence and the setback noticed in the sector.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Idowu Adelusi, in Ado-Ekiti yesterday, said that all arrangements had been made for a successful parley.
He noted that Governor Ayo Fayose was familiar with taking such a step, as the governor organised a similar event during his first term in office.
“The summit then was chaired by Chief Afe Babalola (SAN) and within two years, the result was clear for all to see, as the performance of our students in external examinations conducted by WAEC and NECO improved significantly.
“Ekiti moved from number 35 in WAEC exams to number seven and later to five and the best in the South-West. If the administration was not illegally truncated then, we would have moved to the top of the chart.
“The significant improvement was achieved due to a lot factors. Facilities were upgraded, conducive learning environment created and teachers were motivated. It was Governor Fayose that made the celebration of Teachers’ Day a glorious one. Tutors-General were appointed and best teachers were given cars and other awards,”he said.
