Fayose’s aide in trouble over alleged threat to kill

According to Dailytrust A former special adviser on Security to former Governor Kayode Fayemi, Col. Joseph Babatunde Oluwayose (rtd), has raised the alarm over alleged threat to his life by the Special Assistant to Governor Ayodele Fayose on Traffic and Environment, Ariyo Afolabi.

In a petition to the Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State command, which was also sent to the Director of the Department of Security Services (DSS), in the state, National Human Rights Commission and state secretary of APC, Oluwayose alleged that on April 11, 2016, around 18:47pm, Afolabi called him on mobile phone number 08033829346 in the presence of his wife to threaten him.

The petition was made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti by the Publicity Secretary of the APC, Taiwo Olatunbosun. Part of the petition read, “He issued a threat to me to the effect that ‘I will ensure that I kill you and your wife if you continue to make negative comments on the government of Governor Fayose’.

“It is imperative to make this official report as a senior military officer who knows the security risk Afolabi has constituted to members of the opposition parties in Ekiti State.

While Afolabi confirmed calling the petitioner, he, however, denied threatening him.

In a telephone interview, Afolabi said he only called Oluwayose and advised him against joining the opposition to attack Fayose’s government.

Afolabi added, “Colonel Oluwayose is my brother and what I did was that he should not join Fayose’s enemies to run down his brother’s government. I read his (Oluwayose) comment on his blog two days ago where he justified what Senator Bode Olowoporoku said at the weekend that the assembly under Fayose has only one graduate. I told him that the assembly is composed of credible people such as doctors, lawyers, graduates and tested hands.

“If I had wanted to kill him, would I have called him through my own personal phone? He is my brother, and I cannot threaten him. I was only advising him not to run down his brother’s government which I think should not have been taken to this level”.

The petitioner further alleged that Afolabi is notorious for using thugs to attack members of the opposition political leaders on behalf of the governor.

“In fact, he had earlier attempted to attack me with plank of wood during the last voter registration exercise in Afao-Ekiti,” Oluwayose said in the petition.

He said that Afolabi should be held responsible if anything happens to him or any member of his family.

“I have no business with Mr Afolabi, and he is too junior to me to engage him in private matters, hence I am shocked at his brazen threat to kill me,” he added.

He urged the police and DSS to investigate Afolabi over the threat.(DailyTrust)
