Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar Denies Claim That He Finances Fulani Herdsmen

Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president on Friday, January 5, said the allegation by Paul Unongo, the chairman of Northern Elders Forum (NEF) that he (Atiku) is a chief financier of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria was false.

In a statement released by his media office in Abuja, Atiku said that although he is a bonafide Fulani, he is still “a thoroughly detribalized Nigerian that would never favour one ethnic group over another.”

The Atiku’s media office recalled that after last year’s massive flood in Benue state which affected over 100,000 people, the former vice president donated cash to the Benue state government to cater for the affected families.

Atiku has the honourary title of Zege Mule U Tiv which means ‘the biggest shade of the Tiv people’.
Paul called on Atiku Abubakar, a prince of the Tiv Court, to caution the herdsmen, who are responsible for the murder of countless number of people in the country.
