How Ekiti Youth Group Mobilize Support for Buhari
According to the Punch newspaper, a group known as the Youth Against Corruption, on Tuesday mobilized support in Ekiti State for President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-graft war.
The group said they had decided to join the campaign against corruption because of the economic challenges facing many youths across Nigeria and the need to make their future more secure.
Addressing newsmen after unveiling the logo of the organization, the Coordinators Mr. Femi Ogundare and Mr. Tosin Jegede urged President Buhari to ignore those saying the war against corruption was selective or skewed against the President’s opponents.
Mr. Ogundare emphasized that the movement aimed to position youths collectively fight corruption.
He further stated that the group would campaign to religious leaders, political parties, security agencies, and institutions of learning on the need to join the fight against corruption.
Mr. Jegede identified corruption among leaders as responsible for the increasing rate of unemployment, robbery, crime, poverty and deprivation in the country. He also stated that “President Buhari cannot do it alone. He can’t stay in Abuja and effect change in Ekiti. But we as youth must rise up and help in mobilizing all the strata of the society to see corruption as an evil and enemy of all.”
Mr. Jegede further stated “we trust Buhari on his policy that states that he would fight corruption.”
