Members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) protested in Ekiti.
The protest started on Monday morning after the group accused the governor, Ayodele Fayose, of high handedness and the arrest of one of its members.
The driver who was arrested was reportedly accused of driving careless when the governor was on the road and he was arrested and arraigned at the Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court for traffic offence.
The group kicked against the members arrest, barricaded the streets and started a burn fire that lasted more than 24 hours. One of the protesters was reportedly shot during the protest.
