PDP is Loosing Popularity in Ekiti – Falegan

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Opeyemi Falegan has given reasons the party is losing momentum in Ekiti state. Falegan said the dictatorial tendencies of the present governor of the state Ayodele Fayose is the major factor fueling the low popularity of PDP in the state. The chieftain alleged that Governor Fayose has failed to carry residents of the state along in his leadership activities.

He said such actions by the governor has stalled delivery of desired dividends of democracy in the state.

Falegan however noted that the low level of popularity in the state can be addressed by party members before the beginning of campaign activities for the gubernatorial election in the state in 2018.

He said: “The one-day, one-trouble” being witnessed in the state ranging from recent disagreement between the state government and oil marketers and a stand off between the government and Ikere community over the relocation of a shrine among others is at variance with conditions meaningful development.”

He urged the Ekiti state governor to review his administration’s policies with the aim of harmonizing activities of all party members in the state.

Falegan said: “The way and manner the present PDP-led administration in the state is losing its popularity as a result of self-induced but avoidable crises calls for great concern among the true party leaders and loyalists.”

“The present PDP government in the state needs to move fast and right the wrongs. Those in government need to see this period as the only fortuitous time left to write their names in gold on the political history of the state, especially because of the party they represent now.

“Therefore, for a peaceful atmosphere in the state in order to guarantee sustainable development, government has a major role to play by always seeking peoples’ opinions and at same time listening to their suggestions,” Falegan said.

The Ekiti state PDP members said loyalist of Modu-Sheriff in the state have become outcasts and saboteurs. Also, Governor Fayose in a similar threat said he will dump the party only if Modu-Sheriff is affirmed as national chairman. (Naij)
