As a result of flooding that occurred at Oke Ureje, Ado Ekiti, along Federal Poly road yesterday, Ekiti State commissionerfor works and transport, Mrs Funmilayo Ogun earlier todayvisited the affected area in company of the founder of AfeBabalola University(ABUAD), Chief Afe Babalola.
The flood which was caused by torrential rain that lasted forbetter part of yesterday almost severed the federal roadwhich serves as a major link between Ekiti and other States.
While entertaining questions from journalists, Mrs Ogunpromised that the state government would quickly attend tothe situation of the road to ease the traffic congestion.
On the interim, the broken part of the road was filled up anddebris removed from the culvert to allow free flow of water through the efforts of the state government and Chief Afe Babalola.
The commissioner called on sons and daughters of Ekiti both at home and in diaspora to emulate Chief Afe Babalola by joining hands with the state government in contributing their own quota to the development of the State.
Mrs Ogun also called on the federal government to look into the situation as the road is a major link between Ekiti and other States as it has being in deplorable condition for sometime without federal intervention.
